The ‘HOSPI’ Bike Ride is a 50 km fun event to be held on Sunday 14th March 2010 starting at 8am.
Congratulations to all the finshers in the 2010 Hospi Ride. Results are now online, download a finshers certificate.
Next years event is on Sunday 13th March 2011. Start training, only 364 days to go!!
The event is designed to raise funds for the Wellington Children's Hospital. The opportunity to participate in a healthy activity whilst supporting one of the Regions premier and essential organisations and compete in a healthy activity is not to be missed.
OUTLINE:
This exciting bike ride now in its second year, will start at the Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua and finish at the Wellington Children's Hospital Newtown.
The event will provide participants with an opportunity to support the Children’s Hospital through Wellington Hospital & Health Foundation whilst enjoying a scenic bike ride and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle activity. Additionally discovering parts of the region participants may never have visited before.
The event encompass's an interesting route over varying terrain ranging from flat to undulating and include three challenging hills. The route passes through Porirua, Tawa, Churton Park, Johnsonville, Makara Hill, and Karori, Northland, Brooklyn and continues around the beautiful Wellington coast via Owhiro Bay to Island Bay and into Newtown. The excellent Wellington Region Cycling maps Kapiti & Porirua and Wellington City & CBD includes the route the Hospi Bike will take.
The event includes three options:
- An individual participants section riding the 50km
- A relay section to recreational riders with an opportunity to cycle approximately 25km.
The relay changeover will be located near Makara School
- A corporate section
- teams to consist of maximum 6 participants
with a minimum of 4 finishers to qualify for corporate section awards.
Team must wear "team uniform" and enter as a team.
